Our Call to Duty – Seasons Signs and Sorrows

Our Call to Duty – Seasons Signs and Sorrows by Fresh Bread Ministries – Your Number 1 Source for Prayful Thoughts – Matthew 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

What do these represent?  Our Lord and Savior answered the disciples by stating to them Take heed that no one deceive them.  Wars, and rumors of war; nation will come against nation and kingdom against kingdom; famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in different places.  These, Jesus said, are the beginning.  How does this apply to the Children of God today?

Summer has ended, fall is upon us, and we can see, as Jesus stated in Matthew 16:2, when it is evening, we know and will say it will be fair weather for the sky is red.  We know that holidays and special days are nearing because of business advertisements, and our neighbors are celebrating with decorations in their windows and on their homes.  Many are excited about the events of the coming days, but not that we are forgetting about the beginning of sorrows.  Like the leaders of yesterday who asked Jesus to show them a sign from heaven, clearly, signs from heaven are the sorrows, but are we asking or needing more?

This season, as many celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving, will we truly be thankful for God’s mercy?  We must be careful that, as the Children of God, we should understand that the celebration of Halloween is not for us.  It was believed that the boundary between the living and the dead blurred or (opened) on October 31st, allowing spirits to return to earth.

Bonfires were lit, and people wore costumes to ward off spirits.  However, Children of God, Jesus told the disciples not to rejoice that the spirits are subject to them, but rejoice because our names are written in heaven, Luke 10:20.  Let us look to Jesus, the author (founder) and finisher (perfecter) of our faith, who, for the joy that was set before him endured the cross despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God, Hebrews 12:2.
