Our Call to Duty – March and Madness

Our Call to Duty –“March and Madness”Why March Madness, and what does basketball have to do with serving GOD? Well, either you are in the game, waiting on the bench ready to go in, or you are not wearing a uniform, which means you are not dressed to play. The players not dressed to play in the game are compared to GOD’S Children who are not walking in obedience and righteousness. Apostle Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 9:25 that all athletes are disciplined in their training, and they do it to win a prize, but we (Children of GOD) do it for an eternal prize.

Are we living (playing) to please GOD, or are we living only to become someone significant? Do not be selfish; do not try to impress others, but be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself, and stop looking out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others and the will of GOD (Phil 2:3-4).

Philippians 2:6-11 states that Jesus created all things and thought it not robbery to be equal to GOD, but He did not want to make a reputation. He took it upon Himself to become a servant to humankind by becoming flesh and blood and humbled Himself by being obedient unto His death on the cross. GOD viewed His obedience as reason; that the name Jesus; will forever be lifted higher and above every name, and every knee will bow, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. In addition, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of GOD the Father.

These words were written to help us to understand that as the Children of GOD, we are to conform to the image of Christ (Rom 8:29; 2 Cor 3:18). Yes, we will be like Him with an incorruptible body; we should also be unselfish, humble, and concerned about others more than ourselves. Let us live for the Glory of GOD, like our Lord Christ Jesus did and put on the winners’ uniform (Armor of GOD), Amen.
