How many people in this world still believe that the 25th of December is the birthday of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus? Pope Julius chose this day, December 25th to get followers of Jesus to celebrate His birth in opposition to a pagan holiday. Several celebrations originating throughout this world have morphed into what we in the United States celebrate as Christmas.
Our FATHER in Heaven does not require us to celebrate the day Christ came into this world. HE wants us to recognize His death, burial, and resurrection (The Gospel), the Lamb of GOD who has taken away the sin of the world (John 1:29). GOD would have that no one in this world would die and go to hell (2 Peter 3:9). HE is not going to force anyone to choose HIS Son; however, Jesus will try His best to get us to see that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).
Much like the Disciples who later became Apostles and who followed Jesus because He asked them to follow Him. To this day, nothing has changed; Jesus is still asking people to follow Him. Are we following Jesus close enough to keep us from being led away from the Truth? The Apostle Paul asked people to follow him as he followed Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).
For years, who were we following and listening to concerning the birth of Christ? Jesus told us that He is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11). The children of GOD have, for years, believed and followed many seemingly harmless untruths without wavering. Jesus will never lead us anywhere based on a lie. So, how will we know the truth? Jesus told us (John 16:13) that the Spirit of Truth will guide us into all truth. As we celebrate Christ, believe and receive the Spirit of Truth, who will never lie, and always speak the truth.
